A Baby Friendly Yard

We have recently discovered that Kaelin LOVES to be outside in our miniscule backyard. There is really nothing out there, but a concrete pad outside the door and a small patch of grass. We are strongly considering fencing the yard because we have a drop off between our yard and our neighbors. I need some ideas on what we should do to make our backyard more "Kaelin friendly." Getting a gorgeous wooden play structure is unfortunately NOT an option (I wish it were). We just don't have the room. Any ideas?? Help!

Yeah, a fence sounds like a good idea! We have our backyard fenced in and it is SO nice to be able to sit in a lawn chair or something and let Tate run around without worrying that he'll run 'away' somewhere. :) We don't have a very big backyard either...but some of the toys we have out there are one of those little plastic sandboxes with a lid, and one of those little plastic slides. They are just the right size for smaller kids, like Kaelin. :) Oh, and then once it gets hotter out, we have one of those cheap (but fun!) blow up pools that we blow up and Tate plays in the pool out there too. Good luck with finding some stuff for your backyard! :)

I think she will have fun and just enjoy whatever you let her play with. Chalk, bubbles, all that good stuff. maybe a small sandbox or a sprinkler to run in when it is warm. Balls are fun for outside and you don't need lots of room. She will love whatever you give her!

We put up a screen enclosure in our backyard... we extended our little patio and added a grass area inside it also. For Blake we bring out bubbles, sidewalk chalk, ride on toys, a wagon. We also will put out our blow up pool soon

I would love to fence in our yard AND buy a giant playset, but both of those things are too expensive for us right now - but, we do have a turtle sandbox, which both my 18 month old and 3 year old love to play in. We also have a couple of ride on toys for the driveway, and my daughter has her tricycle. My little guy loves to scoot around on the toys. Good luck!

Little tykes has some cute, inexpensive stuff you can get to jazz up your backyard.. Like single teeter totter (I hope I spelled that right, lol)Or a slide or a little plastic playhouse..

Or what about a sandbox (with a cover) or even a water table.. Kids love water tables, especially in the summer...

Bouncy balls, chalk, bubbles(like a bubble machine so she can catch them.. They make some cute ones like winnie the pooh, mickey mouse, etc...

Good luck with your thoughts and the ideas you get.. You should take a BEFORE and AFTER pic and post it.. That could be cool...

Happy Monday :)

I just thought of another item you might like- a wagon. Ashlyn loves to be pulled around in a wagon (and I am sure Riley will too as soon as I wash it!). Maybe a hopping ball or a little tricycle....I know she would have to grow into some of it...I'm just thinking out loud for you! Hope you figure it out!

I think the little play houses with a little slide or something attached are so cute and don't take up much room. We have just a little one with a rock wall, slide, and look out. I found it at Toys R US a few years ago at some big blow out sale so it was really affordable.

Yeah! Thanks for all your comments...I really appreciate them and I think I will do a before and after post...I'm trying to talk my neighbors into getting fences right now, too so that we can get a better deal!
